griffon farming build (axe,tactics)
welp. i have decided to show on here my effective farming build for farming at least 15 griffs at one time and lots of minotaurs too! i have went to aug rock and taught this build to people and they say they're amazed by it. so here goes.
First off my char that i'm using is of course a W/Mo20. i have gladiator armor for the energy. and the gladiators helm which gives you a +1 to tactics.
for runes i'm using:
1 minor axe mastery
1 minor tactics
1 minor vigor
1 major vigor
1 major absorption
doesnt matter where you put them.
for skills and attributes i am using axe, tactics and healing.
Healing prayers 10
Axe mastery 12 (11+1)
Tactics 12 (10+1+1)
stength 1 (your left over attribute point, cause you know you might get that 1% for a critical!
for Skills now (in order from left to right):
Live Vicarously (gains 10hp for each atk)
Vigorous spirit (gains 10hp for each atk)
Cyclone axe (+10 dmg)
Executioners strike (+32 dmg)
Gladiators defense (block melee atks and target takes 25dmg for each block)
Dismember (inflict deep wound for 16secs)
Shield Stance (for blocking melee atks)
Bonetti's defense (for blocking melee atks and gaining energy back)
the purpose of this build is to group ALOT of enemies together around you in your agro circle and to block ALOT so that you dont die but kill them all at the same time you block
activate your two healing enchanments, run around griffs and/or minotaurs and get as many as you can get. as soon as you do activate one of your stances (gladiators defense, shield stance or bons defense) cyclone axe all of them (watch the screen to see all the 10+hps gained back) keep using other atk skills like cyclone axe, exec strike, and dismember. keep using cyclone axe to bring up your adrenalin. Now by this time your stance (we'll use glads defense for example) will run out of time. just activate another stance blking skill like shield stance, keep going on the atk skills, by this time shield stance will run out, you'll run out of energy to use your cyclone axe. not to worry, use bons defense, to regen your energy BUT dont use a skill just keep atking normaly. now if bons defense runs out, and glads defense and shield stance is still recharging, and your vigorous spirit has run out, use cyclone axe to bring up your adrenal skills, activate vig spirit, and then activate bons defense again to keep blocking melee atks on you.
when bons defense runs out, just keep using another blk skill like glads defense or shield stance. wash, rinse and do it again! as long as you have one of your blocking skills on..your fine and your HP dont go down, i hardly ever have my hps go past a 1/4 of my hp bar.
I find it really helpful to keep my finger on the C key on the keyboard (targets closest foe) then hit space bar, with my thumb, to atk. and use my mouse to select skills and such.
now i have trouble on going against screaming claw, cause he activates gaurdian all the time. i find it really helpfull if i replace shield stance with disrupting chop to disrupt his gaurdian skill. it takes awile to kill the bosses, screaming claw is harder than featherfist cause he's a monk griff. featherfist you can kill with just the build i described above. i find this build really usefull and quite honestly people said it was flawless! and also get alot of comments like "holy cow i'm actually farming griffons!!!!" hehe
let me know what you think!
(please no flamming me)

I will play the critic. Your build is good but I might be able to help you redistribute some attrib points and still keep the healing and defence ability while speeding up your kills.

The vigors do not stack as far as I know. If I am wrong then I am really missing out here. I would up to a Sup Axe Mastery and a Sup Tactics. You will not need the extra hit points when farming if you are doing everything correctly.

Healing: 8 (you only need 8 for the +3 regen in mending which I will suggest)
Axe mastery: 9 (with a req 9 axe....6+3)
Tactics: 15 (11+3+1 with your helm)
Strength: 10 (I also use a sup str but that is choice so my setup would be 13 here)
I might have miscalculated that due to being at work. But if this http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...tion-id270.php is still valid then I believe I did it correct.

My choice:
Drop Vigorous Spirit the extra healing from replacing it with Mending will do enough for you and your regen ability for energy from Bons Def is more than enough.
Drop Shield Stance it is not needed. You can spam cyclone and bons def one after the other in large groups. The 2 stances are more than enough to get by on. Replace it with Healing Signet. I only use this in the vary rare occasion that I make a mistake. Only use it when Glads Def is active.
So the modified build is:
Heal Sig
Cyclone Axe
Dismember
Exec Strike
Bons Def
Glads Def
Live Vic
Mending
I only ask that you try it before you knock it. I have tried it your way when learning. I can honestly say from experiance that once you have perfected the above build (the same way you have yours) you will kill mobs faster.
Good luck and happy farming!

you can stack the vigors...it works for me and it worked for my friend.
your setup is alright..but i still prefer mine and i was just thinking about upgraded the axe and tactics to superiours (spelling) since my axe and my shield gives me HP bonus so it'll be alright

Timmy if you want you can add me to your friends list (Me Nofat) and I will be more than happy to compare builds with you. I am positive that after you see what I can do with my build you will change your mind. Not saying that my build is the end all be all but I have been down this road over a 1000 times. If you prove me wrong I will shout it to the gw world right here in this thread.
BTW...not my build but I am also not sure where I picked it up either.

I think the creator of the "ultimate Griffon farming Build" used to be a regular then a mod on the RPG Stars forums. I forget his name though so long ago, anyone know who I mean?
Edit: I was thinking of the Aura build pre AoE nurf. Not sure if he posted the Glads Def build.

Here is a link to my build incase you find it a little more user friendly and reliable.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...d.php?t=107820
Ive compaired this over the course of 4 months to the other main farming builds (all of the rest are variants...yours included) and this is the one I have taken the time to compare them all and this is the best (check out the video I posted showing how easy and fast it is as well as timing). I really do not reccomend not having high strength or enchantments that are not permanent...but anyway have a look and see what you think.
Note the 350hp and this build can easily handle 25 enemies as in the pic. This build is built for speed and reliability and got me my fissure set (200k per week) as each farming trip takes 5-6mins and thats 1.3k per trip not mentioning any good upgrades salvaged or black dye from minatours If your serious about farming then you want to do as many runs as you can in the shortest time possible. Nearly forgot to mention you can handle rockshot with this build except when over 20 enemies and you may need breeze to top you up.

battle i have a question about your build, which would you prefer for a newcomer to griffon farming, a zealous axe haft or a perfect vampiric axe haft?

I have a build very similar to Battle Torn and xTimmyx but I use Healing Hands. I always have that or BDef up. So with LV, VS, and Healing Hands I am getting I believe +30 hp for each hit + with my vampiric axe add another 3 hp.

this is more of a starter build the defence is way too high and the damage is too low , sheild stance is not required , well its a nice guild though good job , now how many griff build threads have we had... hmm i think someone should make a realy realy fully detailed guide with lots of different diffucultly level builds for girffion farming and vids , then make that a sticky and we can stop having constant new griffion w/mo build threads with little difference in builds.

I recomend vamp axe. Mending negates the hp degen and you can suck 200hp per cyclone when fighting groups of griffons and minatours . As you can see from my vid I never heal other than cyclone with vamp +3 and live vicariously +8 =+11hp per hit per enemy...so 20 enemies = 220hp per hit
also high strength means more chance of critical with cyclone between 22-46 dmg.
glads def is 31dmg per attack and you use this when they are is berserker stance (kills em quicker) especcialy the bosses.

Well there are different builds...and not everyone knows how to do it, or how to do it best. But I do agree there are too many posts about farming, thats why I post link whenever I see a new one pop up...instead of simply flamming and complaining about using the search button unlike some. I am surprised that there are no stickies about this though....would stop this from happening.

^ agree 100% but I am not writing the guide Well not yet at least.
Besides the war of "my build is better" would always follow in the thread.
I am going to start my own ban on posting in any more griffon farming builds.

This built work perfect for me, The only thing i dont see why is in there i vigorous spirit. U do not have time to use this skill, ure finger should be on the Key "C" all the time for this to work. But it work really good, i was taking the mission from elona yesterday and farming the minotoure there i made over 10K in HR that is real good.
